Prolepsis in Dororo
prolepsis, like anachronism, is the existence of a thing outside of the time in which it should exist. however, whereas anachronism is usually the existence of a thing AFTER the accepted time, prolepsis is the existence of a thing BEFORE the accepted time.
obviously, prolepsis is more apparent in the manga, but there are a few details from the 2019 anime that are also of note.

Dororo’s Gender
Dororo’s gender has been an ongoing topic for quite a while now.
Some think she’s a boy while others think Dororo is a girl. Consequently, her profile has been locked due to numerous changes. Currently, he bio reads as « Identifies as male ».
As an anime watcher of 2018, I personally believe that Dororo identifies as a girl but lives as a boy to protect herself, since Japan was more dangerous back then for women. In her comments section, some agreed that was the case.
However, it’s important to note the original source, that is the manga before the 2000s. It might indicate Dororo’s true gender identification.
My point is someone in the admin should at least mention in her bio that in the anime she identifies as a female but lives as a boy. The…
